The Village Music Project was started with embryonic funding from the University of Salford in Greater Manchester, UK.
The Director is Johnny Adams and the principle researcher is Chris Partington.
There are also an active group of volunteers who undertake abc coding and engage in detective work, uncovering the history of tunes.
