I am a Lancashire singer, songwriter and independent researcher with a particular interest in the traditional songs, dialect and cultural history of Saddleworth and the wider historic county of Lancashire. I am currently researching and reviving material associated with Saddleworth singer Becket Whitehead, whose songs were recorded by Ewan MacColl, together with songs and poems connected with H. B. Whitehead. My work combines archival and source research with the performance and preservation of locally rooted songs. I hope to contribute carefully sourced information about Saddleworth singers, songs, variants and their historical context.
