Vergie Wallin: the wife of Cas Wallin, loved to sing, although her tendency to let her songs merge together, coupled with the fact that she would sometimes sing at breakneck speed, meant that it was often difficult to make out quite what she was singing!  She knew a large number of ballads, including a fine version of The Merry Golden Tree (Child 286), as well as lyrical songs.  One oddity was a song that she called The Cold Professor which I have been unable to trace elsewhere.
