Billy Ballantine was a piccolo player who was living at Simonburn, near Wark in the North Tyne area of Northumberland when Peter Kennedy recorded him in 1954. Many of Billy's dance tunes were published in Kennedy's Fiddler's Tune Books.

Billy's son, Bob Ballantine continues to uphold the family musical traditions in Ballerat, Victoria, Australia. You Tube
