The 19th century saw a huge change in dance from beginning to end, the main transformation being in the late 1840s, when the Polka craze swept Europe and the Schottische and Varsoviana followed close beside.


When the 18thC turned into the 19thC, the 'Long Rooms' were still host to the Country Dance, the Minuet and Gavotte.
