Johnny Adams was appointed to the EFDSS National Council in 2000 and has worked since then developing the Society's web operations, mostly with enormous effort from a range of volunteers.

Two major developments have been the online Folk Shop (installed by Fiona Fahlin of Redpebble Web Solutions) and the [http://library.efdss.org online catalogue] for the Vaughan Williams Memorial Library, a mammoth undertaking by Malcolm Taylor and the Library team in cooperation with Dr Richard Butterworth.
A retired folk musician but still performing for fun with the old swan band, the english string band, and occasional local bands as a dep.


From 1998 – 2008 on the National Council of the English Folk Dance and Song Society and also a trustee of the Vaughan Williams Memorial Library and its home, Cecil Sharp House.


Another major project which JA couldn't fit in to his own schedule was the steady development of a site to support the [http://fmj.efdss.org Folk Music Journal] and major thanks go to Malcolm Douglas for getting this site in place and developing and maintaining it.

A researcher into social dance music of the 18th and 19th centuries with [http://www.village-music-project.org.uk/ The Village Music Project].


Folkopedia is the next major development along with an education site.
The coordinator of a support group for the archive of the well regarded folklorist and collector Doc Rowe.

Formerly Director of the Paul Graney Archive Project, an audio archive of recordings made in the NW of England in the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s now housed at Manchester Central Library.
