I was born in 1954, son of a musician and have grown up with music. I retired in 2011 and spend a large proportion of my free time playing and recording my own and other people's music. Folk music has been a central part of my musical interest mostly because of the strong tunes but I also like the spontaneous and collaborative nature often associated with it's performance. I live just outside Hull in East Yorkshire, a town with a long tradition of folk music.
