The Folkopedia website was initially sponsored by the English Folk Dance and Song Society, and the main interest of the compilers was, and remains, English music, so naturally that has been the main focus. But as has often been stated, culture recognises no borders. Tunes that we play come from all over the world, and have travelled all over the world. Many English players, and non-English players, and English players of foreign ancestry, are interested in the music of other parts of the world.
