Child 119. Robin Hood and the Monk

Child praises the descriptive elements of the first two stanzas, but to some of us this is simply evidence of the work of a poet of some merit and also that it is unlikely to have passed through the hands of ordinary people. Child relates it to a story of an earlier outlaw, Fulk Fitz Warine.
