Plough Monday

This is the first Monday after Epiphany, the first day of the first week back at work after the Christmas holidays.

Events associated with Plough Monday include:

  • Mummers Plays
  • Plough Bullocks

Wassailing

Dates vary regionally. Bread or toast is soaked in cider and hung in the apple trees. Guns are then fired into the trees.
