Also known in later versions as The Retreat and as She Wants a Fellow, this tune is to be found in Playford and in the 1694 manuscript book of Henry Atkinson of Morpeth, Northumberland.
The Buff Coat referred to is allegedly the long leather coat worn by Cromwell's soldiers.
